You can add a Simplesat survey link to the email your users get from Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk when their ticket is closed, and there's nothing to connect. Simplesat's Spiceworks option builds survey code for the on-premises help desk that Spiceworks retired in 2021, so in Cloud Help Desk you use a plain link instead.
Before you start
You can use a survey link with Spiceworks on any Simplesat plan.
To set a survey's delivery method, you need the Manage surveys permission. Owner and Admin have it by default.
Send surveys from Spiceworks
In Simplesat:
Create or open the survey and choose External email embed.
Under Choose where to add your survey, choose Generic Embed, not Spiceworks.
Leave Rating placeholders empty and click Generate embed code.
Choose Link and click Copy survey.
In Spiceworks:
Go to Settings, select your organization and open Monitors & Alerts.
Under end user notifications, edit the email template for Ticket is closed.
In the template's Header message, add a line such as Tell us how we did: and paste the link after it.
Save the template.
Heads up: The Spiceworks option builds code for Spiceworks' older on-premises help desk, which Spiceworks stopped supporting at the end of 2021.
Spiceworks shows the link as text, and most email apps make it clickable. Your users click it and answer the survey from its first question.
Note: Survey responses from Spiceworks arrive without the user's email, the ticket or the technician. Each click starts a new response.
The template editor can send you a test email. To try the survey end to end, close a ticket with yourself as the requester and answer it from the email. The response shows up in Simplesat.
Troubleshooting
The survey shows up as code in my Spiceworks emails
That's the embed code, shown as plain text. Spiceworks doesn't render HTML in its email templates. Replace the code in the template with the survey link from Generic Embed, as in the steps above.
My Spiceworks survey link opens an error page
A link copied from the Spiceworks option includes {{ticket.id}}. Cloud Help Desk doesn't fill it in, which breaks the link. Copy the Link from Generic Embed instead and paste it over the old one in the template.
FAQ
Does Simplesat have a Spiceworks integration?
No, there's nothing to connect. Spiceworks has no page under Integrations in Simplesat. You add the survey link to your Spiceworks email, and responses show up in Simplesat, not in Spiceworks.
Can my Spiceworks responses show the ticket, the user or the technician?
Not from Cloud Help Desk. You use a plain survey link there because the Spiceworks option in Simplesat is built for Spiceworks' on-premises help desk, retired in 2021. Every email carries the same link, so responses come in without those details. Choosing a survey delivery method covers the other ways Simplesat can send a survey.
Do I need to update the link in Spiceworks when I change the survey?
No. The link always opens the survey as it is now. Your changes show up without a new link.
