Using Simplesat Surveys with Zendesk Chat

How to add Simplesat customer satisfaction survey (CSAT), customer effort score (CES), NPS, or 5-star surveys to Zendesk chat.

Written by Elliot Fox

Simplesat allows you to create CSAT, CES, NPS, or 5-star surveys that you can send directly in chat messages within Zendesk.

Create your survey

First, create a new survey.

Customize the survey settings to your heart's desires. 😁 Then, choose the External Email Embed option from the Publish tab.

Select Zendesk Chat in the pop-up box.

Add your survey to chats

Simplesat allows you to easily send direct survey links to your end users via the Zendesk Chat widget.

By installing the Simplesat for Chat app from the Zendesk Marketplace, you can quickly copy the survey link along with all the ticket details directly from the Zendesk chat sidebar. No need to worry about manually editing the link or including ticket information – it's all taken care of.

Simply select the survey you want to send and paste it into the chat to send the survey link to your customers. Easy as pie! 😉

Install the Simplesat Chat app

To get started, you'll need to create your Simplesat API key.

Make sure to copy and store your API key in a secure location, as you'll need it later. Please note that the full API key secret is only shown once. If it's lost, you'll need to generate a new key.

Note: Only Owners and Admins can create, edit, or delete API keys.

Next, install the Simplesat for Chat app from the Zendesk Marketplace. Then, add the API key that you've copied from your Simplesat account.

Once everything is set up, you'll see the Simplesat app in the sidebdar during an active Zendesk chat. From there, it's easy to find the survey links and quickly send them to your customers.

To enhance your in-app survey experience with Zendesk's Sunshine Conversations, the survey can be embedded within an iframe over the chat widget directly as soon as a chat is closed or marked as resolved.

Try it out!

Create a test chat with yourself as the customer. Once the first message is sent, a ticket will be generated, and you'll have access to the survey links. Keep in mind that if we can't determine the ticket ID associated with the chat conversation, the survey links won't show up.

If you run into any issues let us know and we'll be happy to help troubleshoot. 🙌
