Connect Dropbox, and Simplesat keeps a CSV file of your feedback in your Dropbox, replacing it every hour. Any dashboard or BI tool that reads files from Dropbox can work from it. You set it up from Simplesat's Dropbox page by signing in to Dropbox. The export only goes one way, so nothing comes back into Simplesat.
Before you start
You need the Manage integrations permission in Simplesat. Owner and Admin have it by default. The Dropbox export is available on every Simplesat plan.
Heads up: The file goes to whichever Dropbox account you sign in with when you connect, so use the account your BI tool reads from. Switching accounts later means contacting us.
Connect Dropbox
On the Integrations page, open Dropbox.
Click Authenticate.
Sign in to Dropbox with the account you want, and allow access.
Back on the Dropbox page, check that it shows Authenticated with Dropbox.
The file appears in Dropbox a few minutes after you connect.
What lands in Dropbox, and when
Simplesat writes one file, simplesat_feedback.csv, to the Apps/Simplesat folder of your Dropbox. If you don't have an Apps folder, Dropbox creates it. The folder and file name are fixed, so the path your BI tool reads from stays the same.
The first file is written right after you connect. After that, Simplesat replaces the whole file every hour.
The file holds responses from the past 12 months, from every survey. Once a response is more than 12 months old, it drops out of the file.
Each row is one answer, not one response, so a response with three answers takes three rows. Keep that in mind if your dashboard counts rows.
The columns are fixed too. They cover:
the rating, sentiment and comment
the question and any follow-up answer
the survey, the team member and the ticket
the customer and their company
the response's tags and topics
one column for each of your custom ticket, team member and customer fields
If your workspace has Zendesk, ConnectWise or Autotask surveys, the file has extra columns for those tools.
Stop the export or change the Dropbox account
There's no disconnect button on Simplesat's Dropbox page. To stop the export, remove Simplesat from the connected apps in your Dropbox account's settings. The file stops updating, and the last copy stays in your Dropbox.
After that, the Dropbox page in Simplesat still shows Authenticated with Dropbox, and there's no Authenticate button while it does. To connect Dropbox again, or to connect a different Dropbox account, contact us. We'll clear the old connection so you can click Authenticate again.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the file in Dropbox
Look in the Apps/Simplesat folder of the Dropbox account you signed in with when you connected. If you've only just connected, give it a few minutes. The file appears shortly after.
The file in Dropbox stopped updating
If Simplesat was removed from the connected apps in your Dropbox account's settings, the export has stopped. Contact us to connect Dropbox again.
If your Dropbox is full, Simplesat can't replace the file. Free up space, and the next hourly update replaces it.
Older responses are missing from the file
The file only holds the past 12 months of responses. To get older ones, export them from the Feedback page with a date range that covers them.
FAQ
How often is the file updated?
Every hour. Each update replaces the whole file.
Can I choose which surveys or columns go into the file?
No. The file has every survey and a fixed set of columns. To export only the surveys and columns you choose, save a view on the Feedback page with them and export the view.
Can I use the file with BrightGauge?
You don't need it for BrightGauge. BrightGauge has its own Simplesat datasource, which reads your answers from Simplesat with an API key, with no Dropbox involved. BrightGauge integrations covers it.
