Free trials, limits and extensions

What the free trial includes, and how to extend it or move onto a paid plan.

Every new Simplesat workspace starts on a free trial that runs for 14 days, and there's no credit card to enter. You'll have Elite-level features the whole time, with survey emails capped at 50 a day, and if 14 days isn't enough, you can ask us for more time.

How the free trial works

Your trial starts the moment the workspace is created. To see your own end date, open Admin → Billing, where the Plan section reads Free trial with the date underneath.

Free trial

When the 14 days are up, the trial ends and the workspace stops sending surveys. Everything you built stays where it is, and you can choose a plan whenever you're ready.

What the free trial includes

You get every Elite plan feature during the trial, including custom topics, topic detection and premium integrations. Question visibility rules are the exception. Those are the settings that show or hide a question depending on how someone answered an earlier one, and during a trial you'll see an upgrade prompt on a question's Visibility control instead. Follow-up questions work normally during the trial, and on every plan.

The 50-a-day limit covers every survey email the workspace sends. It resets each day, and as soon as you subscribe it lifts to your plan's monthly allowance.

Note: the trial allows more users, brands, dashboards and widgets than the Standard, Pro and Elite plans do. Standard includes no custom dashboards at all, so you'll want to archive any you built during the trial before moving to it.

Extend your free trial

Ask us and we'll extend your trial. Start a chat from any page in Simplesat, or email support, and tell us how much longer you need and what you're still working through.

An expired trial can be restarted too. Send us the workspace name along with what you'd still like to try, and we'll put the trial back.

Choose a plan

Open Admin → Billing and click Choose a plan. Pick the plan you want and enter your card, and your subscription starts right away.

Unused trial days aren't carried over or credited, so subscribing on day 3 of a 14-day trial means paying from day 3.

Plans are month-to-month. There's no contract, and you can change plan at any time.

If your usage is above the limits of the plan you're moving to, the change is blocked until you bring it down to the new plan's allowance, and the screen names each thing you're over on.

When the free trial ends

An expired trial leaves the workspace intact. Your surveys, feedback, users and settings are all still there, and you can sign in as normal. A banner reads Your subscription has expired, and if you have the Owner role you'll also see a Choose a plan to upgrade button in it.

Survey emails, test emails and event-triggered emails are all held while a trial is expired, and once you're on a plan, sending works again.

Feedback still arrives. We keep it in full and hide it from your stats and feedback list, and you'll see a count of it instead. Choose a plan and the whole backlog is released at once.

If the 14 days ran out before you were ready, ask us and we'll extend the trial. An extension works after the end date as well as before it.

Heads up: a trial with no card attached doesn't need canceling. It ends on its own date and nothing is charged.

Troubleshooting

Fewer people received the survey than the audience showed

On a trial the workspace can send 50 survey emails a day. A send that would go over that limit goes out up to the day's remaining allowance, and the rest of the audience isn't included in that send.

You can send the remainder the next day, or subscribe to a plan and send again straight away. On a one-off survey, open the survey's Publish tab and click Send another batch, which returns the survey to Draft so you can send it to the people who were missed.

An email shows a red X in Email activity

A red X on an event-triggered email with the reason Daily email delivery amount reached limit means the workspace had already sent 50 survey emails that day. The same X with Your account is currently inactive means the trial has ended and you'll need a plan to keep sending.

The limit resets the next day, and subscribing to a plan clears both.

I subscribed and the missed emails still didn't send

Subscribing doesn't send the emails the daily limit held back. Send them again: open the survey's Publish tab, click Send another batch, and send to the audience you missed.

Everyone who was left out of the first send will receive it.

Choosing a plan says you're over the new plan's limits

Trial workspaces get 20 custom dashboards, 20 feedback widgets, 10 brands and 100 account users, which is more than Standard or Pro allow. The plan-change screen names each item you're over on, with your usage and the new plan's limit.

Custom dashboards only count while they're active, so archiving the extras is enough. You'll need to actually remove the extra brands, feedback widgets and account users. Once the blockers are clear, choose the plan again.

I can't find a way to cancel my trial

A trial has no subscription behind it, which means there's nothing to cancel. The Billing page shows Choose a plan instead of Change plan and Cancel subscription. Everyone on a trial sees the page this way, whatever their role.

Your trial ends on its own date, nothing is charged, and no card is on file.

Something I used during the trial is no longer working

Check the Billing page first. While a trial is expired the workspace stops sending survey emails and holds new feedback, and features that depend on your plan's limits stop working.

Choose a plan and all of it comes back, including the feedback collected while the trial was expired.

FAQ

Do I need a credit card to start a free trial?

No. Signing up starts the trial, and we don't collect any payment details until you choose a plan.

Do I need to cancel my free trial?

No. A trial with no card ends on its own date and nothing is charged.

Can I extend my free trial?

Yes. Start a chat and let us know how much more time you need and what you're still working through.

Can I restart a trial that has already expired?

Yes. Send us the workspace name along with what you'd still like to try, and we'll put the trial back.

Can I use conditional logic during the trial?

Follow-up questions work during the trial, and on every plan. Question visibility rules, which show or hide a question depending on an earlier answer, aren't part of the trial, and you'll see an upgrade prompt on the Visibility control instead.

If I add my payment details during the trial, when am I charged?

The day you choose a plan. We'll collect your card details as part of that step, and your subscription starts right away.

Can I skip the trial and start being billed now?

Yes. Choose a plan from Admin → Billing at any point during the trial. The trial ends and billing starts that day.

What happens to my feedback when the trial ends?

It stays. Everything collected during the trial is still in your workspace, and anything that arrives after the trial ends is held for you until you subscribe, then released.

Did I lose the survey I built during the trial?

No. Your surveys, feedback and settings all survive an expired trial.

Can I start a second trial for a test workspace?

Yes. Each workspace runs its own 14-day trial, including one you create just for testing or development.

Where do I see when my trial ends?

Under Admin → Billing. The Plan section reads Free trial with the end date below it.
