You can put a Simplesat survey in the signature Exclaimer adds to your team's emails, so every email carries the survey's rating choices. Exclaimer fills in who sent each email, who it went to and its subject. Each response comes in with the recipient as the customer, the sender as the team member and the email's subject as the ticket subject.
There's nothing to connect. You build the survey into an Exclaimer signature template, copying each rating's image and link from Simplesat.
Before you start
The Exclaimer survey is available on every Simplesat plan.
Use a server-side signature. Exclaimer fills in the recipient and the subject in signatures it adds server-side, and the recipient is what ties each response to its customer.
Send surveys from Exclaimer
Simplesat has two Exclaimer options. Choose the one for where your Exclaimer signatures run:
Exclaimer for Office 365, for Microsoft 365
Exclaimer for G Suite, for Google Workspace
They use different Exclaimer fields for the sender's details, so pick the one that matches your setup.
In Simplesat:
Create or open the survey and choose External email embed.
Under Choose where to add your survey, choose Exclaimer for Office 365 or Exclaimer for G Suite.
Click Generate embed code.
Choose HTML and click Copy survey.
You rebuild the survey in Exclaimer from this code, one element per piece. The question is a heading. Each star or image choice is a link wrapped around an image, so it has an image address and a link. Emoji, NPS and CES choices are text links, an emoji or a number, with no image.
Then in Exclaimer:
In Exclaimer's Signature Designer, open the signature template that should carry the survey, or create one.
Drag a Text element onto the template and type the survey's question.
If the choices are stars or image icons, add each one as a linked image. Drag an Image/Logo element onto the template, choose New linked image, paste the choice's image address into Linked Image URL and click OK. With the image selected, expand Hyperlink in the Properties pane and paste the choice's link into Destination URL. Add the choice's label as Alt Text, and its width and height from the code under Size. Put the choices in a Table to keep them in a row.
If the choices are emoji or numbers, as in NPS and CES surveys, add each one as linked text. Drag a Text element onto the template, type the emoji or number, select it, click Add Hyperlink and paste the choice's link.
Click Save Changes.
Test it: send an email to another address you can read, and click a rating in the email that arrives. The response shows in Simplesat with that address as the customer.
For a simpler signature, give a single Text element with a short phrase the survey's Link code through Add Hyperlink: it fills in the same fields but carries no rating, so the recipient picks one on the survey page.
Exclaimer fills in these fields in every rating link:
What the link carries | Exclaimer for Office 365 | Exclaimer for G Suite |
Customer email |
|
|
Team member email |
|
|
Team member first name |
|
|
Team member last name |
|
|
Ticket subject |
|
|
The links don't carry a ticket ID, so every click records a new response.
Heads up: What's in your signature doesn't change when the survey does. After you change the survey's metric question, its rating choices, icons or labels, generate the HTML again and update Exclaimer to match: the question's Text element, and each choice's image and link. If you're not sure whether a change needs new code, External email embed has the list.

Troubleshooting
My Exclaimer responses come in as anonymous
A response is anonymous when its link reaches Simplesat without the recipient's email. Check these:
The signature is one Exclaimer adds server-side. Exclaimer fills in
{Recipient}in server-side signatures.Every rating link in the signature has
customer_email={Recipient}.
Emails sent before you fixed the signature still carry the old links, so responses from them stay anonymous.
If only a few low ratings are anonymous and the rest have their customer, they may be automated clicks from mail security scanners, which External email embed explains.
I get low ratings that nobody remembers giving
Some mail security scanners open every link in an email, rating links included, and each link they open can record a rating. They can open links in emails that bounced, too. Every rating click gets an automatic spam check, but some automated clicks still get through. If they keep showing up, see what helps in External email embed.
FAQ
Do I need to connect Exclaimer to Simplesat?
No. There's no Exclaimer integration to connect. The survey works from the images and links in the signature.
Which Exclaimer option do I choose?
Exclaimer for Office 365 if your Exclaimer signatures are for Microsoft 365. Exclaimer for G Suite if they're for Google Workspace.
Can I make the question text above the stars smaller?
Yes, in Exclaimer. The question is a Text element there, so change its Font size in the Text properties. Custom CSS on your brand doesn't change it, because it styles only the survey page that opens after the click.
