Would you like to bring your Simplesat feedback data directly into Power BI for analysis? With the Simplesat Power BI connector, you can seamlessly import customer satisfaction data to visualize trends, generate reports, and create impactful dashboards. This guide will walk you through downloading, installing, and setting up the connector.

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • Power BI Desktop (October 2018 or newer) installed on your computer.

Installing the Simplesat Power BI Connector

Once downloaded, place the .mez file in your Power BI custom connectors folder:

[Documents]/Power BI Desktop/Custom Connectors

Note: If the "Custom Connectors" folder doesn’t exist, create it inside your Power BI Desktop folder.

To allow Power BI to connect to custom connectors, you’ll need to enable them in your settings.

Start off by opening PowerBI and going to options.

Under Security, select allow any extension to load without validation or warning. Click OK to save the changes.

Connect to your Simplesat data

Now, you’re ready to use the Simplesat connector to pull in your feedback data.

In Power BI Desktop, go to Home > Get Data > More….

Click on online services and select Simplesat from the list.

You’ll be prompted to enter your Simplesat API key. You can find your your API key on this page.

Enter your API key and click Connect.

Configuration

The connector supports a few parameters which can be used to fetch a date range or change the default fetching behavior.

Required parameters:
RangeStart : The start date for fetching data

RangeEnd : Then end date for fetching data

Optional parameters:

UseModifiedDates : When set to true will use response modified dates for the date range (default: false, i.e. using created dates)

Troubleshooting

Connector Not Showing in List: Ensure Power BI Desktop is up to date, and verify that you placed the .mez file in the correct folder.

The documents folder PowerBI is be looking for might be your OneDrive documents folder. Or, if emulating Windows through Parallels, it might be looking at your MacOS documents folder.

If you're unsure which documents folder to pick, then try opening PowerBI and clicking open > browse this device. The documents folder that opens is generally the one the PowerBI connector should be placed in.
