Xink integrations

Put a Simplesat rating survey in your team's Xink email signatures to ask for feedback in every email.

If your company manages its email signatures with Xink, you can add a Simplesat survey to them, and the emails your team sends will show its rating choices. Xink fills in the sender's name and email from its employee data. In Simplesat, the person who sent the email becomes the team member on the response.

There's nothing to connect. You generate the survey code in Simplesat and paste it into a Xink signature.

Before you start

The Xink survey is available on every Simplesat plan.

Send surveys from Xink

In Simplesat:

  1. Create or open the survey and choose External email embed.

  2. Under Choose where to add your survey, choose Xink.

  3. Click Generate embed code.

  4. Choose HTML and click Copy survey.

In Xink:

  1. Go to SIGNATURES and click the plus (+) button to create a signature, or open the signature that should show the survey.

  2. In the editor, click Source.

  3. Paste the code where you want the survey to appear.

  4. Click Source again to see the survey, then save the signature.

  5. To test it, send an email with that signature to another address you can read, and click a rating in the email that arrives. The response shows in Simplesat with you as the team member.

When Xink adds the signature to an email, it fills in these fields in the rating links:

What the link carries

Xink field

Team member email

((Email))

Team member first name

((FirstName))

Team member last name

((LastName))

Heads up: Xink responses arrive without a customer, because the links hold no customer email. With no ticket ID in them either, a click on a rating always makes a new response.

Placeholders and merge fields explains how placeholders work in every tool.

Troubleshooting

My Xink responses come in with no customer

The Xink survey code holds the sender's details and nothing about who the email went to. Simplesat has no way to tell who the customer is, and that's true of all Xink responses.

If you need to know who rated:

  1. Set the survey up on Generic Embed instead.

  2. In Rating placeholders → Team member details, type ((Email)) in Email address, ((FirstName)) in First name and ((LastName)) in Last name. Xink still fills in the sender this way.

  3. On the survey's Configure tab, make sure Show question if customer info isn't already associated with the answer is on. It's the question that asks customers for their name and email after they click a rating, and it's on by default for a new survey.

  4. Replace the old code in the Xink signature with the new code.

For more on Generic Embed and the question that asks for the customer's details, see External email embed.

I get ratings that nobody remembers giving

Some mail security scanners open all the links in an email, rating links included. When a scanner opens a rating link, it can record a rating. Simplesat runs an automatic spam check on rating clicks, but some automated ones get through. They show up without a customer, since Xink links have none in them.

What helps with automated clicks is in External email embed.

FAQ

Do I need to connect Xink to Simplesat?

No. There's no Xink integration to connect. The survey works from the code in the signature.

Do I need to update the survey in Xink when I change it in Simplesat?

After some changes, yes. The code in the signature is a copy, and it doesn't change when the survey does. If you change the survey's metric question, its rating choices, icons or labels, generate the code again and replace it in the Xink signature.

If you're not sure whether a change needs new code, External email embed lists the ones that do.
