AWeber integrations

Add a Simplesat survey to your AWeber emails and segment subscribers by their latest rating.

You can put a Simplesat survey inside the emails you send from AWeber. Paste the survey code into an AWeber message and it works without connecting anything.

If you connect AWeber, you can segment subscribers by their latest rating and sentiment.

What the AWeber integrations do

The AWeber page lists its integrations under Survey integrations.

Integration

What it does

Where it shows

Sync rating and sentiment to subscriber's tags

Tags the subscriber with their latest rating and sentiment

The subscriber in AWeber

Sync feedback to subscriber's custom fields

Writes the latest rating, sentiment and comment to custom fields on the subscriber

The subscriber in AWeber

Each integration finds the subscriber by the customer email on the response. It writes to that subscriber on every list in your AWeber account where the email is subscribed. A response without an email isn't written to AWeber.

The integrations have no settings. Once you activate one, it runs on responses from every survey.

For how survey integrations work in general, read Writing feedback back, and mapping the fields.

Before you start

The AWeber integrations are available on every Simplesat plan. To connect AWeber and switch on integrations, you need the Manage integrations permission. Owner and Admin have it by default.

Integration security, permissions and data flow covers what a connected tool can read and write.

Connect AWeber

  1. On the Integrations page, open AWeber and click Authenticate.

  2. On AWeber's authorization screen, enter your AWeber username and password, then allow Simplesat access.

  3. When the page shows Authenticated with AWeber, click Activate integration on each integration you want.

Heads up: If your AWeber login has more than one AWeber account, the integrations work in the first account AWeber lists and ignore the others.

To connect a different AWeber login, click Revoke access, then Authenticate again. Reconnecting doesn't switch the integrations back on, so click Activate integration again on each one you use.

Send surveys from AWeber

  1. Create or open the survey and choose External email embed.

  2. Under Choose where to add your survey, choose AWeber.

  3. On Publish, click Generate embed code.

  4. Choose HTML and click Copy survey.

  5. In AWeber, go to Messages → Drafts → Create a Message.

  6. Click the Source button and paste the survey code where you want the survey to appear. Click Source again to see the survey.

  7. Click Save.

When AWeber sends the message, it fills these fields with the subscriber's details, so each response arrives with them:

What the code carries

AWeber field

Customer email

{!email}

Customer first name

{!firstname_fix}

Customer last name

{!lastname_fix}

Country, region, city and postal code, saved as ticket fields on the response

{!geog_country}, {!geog_region}, {!geog_city}, {!geog_postal}

The date the subscriber signed up, saved as a ticket field on the response

{!signdate ss}

Placeholders and merge fields explains how fields like these work in every tool.

Tip: Before you send, use Preview & Test to send yourself a test email, then click a rating. Test emails don't fill in the location fields.

Feedback in AWeber

Simplesat waits at least five minutes after a response arrives before it writes to AWeber. If the response changes, Simplesat writes again. Writing feedback back, and mapping the fields has more on timing.

Sync rating and sentiment to subscriber's tags

This integration gives the subscriber two tags, one for their rating and one for their sentiment.

The rating tag is simplesat_ followed by the metric and the rating, such as simplesat_NPS_9, simplesat_CSAT_4, simplesat_CES_3 or simplesat_5-STAR_5. The sentiment tag is simplesat_sentiment_positive, simplesat_sentiment_neutral or simplesat_sentiment_negative.

Each new response replaces the Simplesat tags from the subscriber's earlier responses. Their other tags stay as they are.

Sync feedback to subscriber's custom fields

This integration writes the subscriber's latest rating to the custom field for the survey's metric: Latest Simplesat CSAT rating, Latest Simplesat NPS rating, Latest Simplesat CES rating or Latest Simplesat 5-star rating. The sentiment goes to Latest Simplesat sentiment and the comment goes to Latest Simplesat comment.

If a list doesn't have these custom fields yet, the integration creates all six on that list the first time it writes to it.

Troubleshooting

Ratings don't show up on my AWeber subscribers

The integrations only write to subscribers whose email matches the customer email on the response. Check each of these:

  • The response has a customer email. A survey in an AWeber message carries the email when AWeber fills in {!email}.

  • The email is subscribed to a list in the AWeber account the integrations use.

  • At least five minutes have passed since the response arrived.

  • Each integration you want shows as active. If you used Revoke access and then Authenticate, click Activate integration again on each one.

Ratings show up in one AWeber account but not another

The integrations use only one AWeber account, the first one your AWeber login lists. To write to a different account, connect with an AWeber login that has only that account.

FAQ

Do I need to connect AWeber to put a survey in AWeber messages?

No. The survey code works on its own. Connecting AWeber adds the integrations that put ratings on your AWeber subscribers.

Can I segment AWeber subscribers by their rating?

Yes. Turn on Sync rating and sentiment to subscriber's tags and each subscriber carries their latest rating and sentiment as tags, such as simplesat_NPS_9 and simplesat_sentiment_positive. You can use those tags in AWeber segments and automations.
