Audit logs offer you the ability to keep tabs on all user activity within your account over the past 30 days. These logs serve as your extra pair of eyes to help ensure account security, monitor user behavior, and maintain a record for compliance.

Reviewing these logs can offer insights into unusual account activity, thus allowing you to take proactive steps to prevent any unauthorized access.

Note that the Audit Logs feature is exclusive to our users on the Pro plan.

How to set up audit logs

Getting started with Audit Logs is easy, but it does require initial activation by our support team.

  • Go to Account settings in the Admin section of your Simplesat account.

  • Click the Contact support button on the Account settings page to request activation of audit logs for your account.

  • Upon activation, the audit logs for the past 30 days will be preloaded into your account, ensuring that you don't lose out on any historical data.

  • After activation, you can click the View audit logs button, which will launch the logs in a new tab for easier viewing.

Viewing audit logs

Default view

By default, the audit logs page will show you a live stream of all the events logged, sorted by the most recent at the top.

Filter options

Click the filter bar at the top to narrow down your logs based on several fields.

  • actor_name - This is usually the name of the user who carried out the action.

  • actor_id - Use the actor's ID for instances where more precision is required.

  • action - View logs based on the type of action taken. If an action you're interested in isn't listed, contact our support team to see if it can be added.

  • target - The resource or object that was impacted by the action.

  • target_id - Use this field for more specific filtering based on the ID of the target.

  • date - Sort by the date when the action was performed.
