Simplesat offers various user roles with different permissions and access levels. These roles range from administrators with full system control to basic viewers with limited access.


Default roles

The following default roles are available in any workspace:

  • Owner - Full access to all features, including billing management and the ability to delete workspaces.

  • Admin - Full access to all features, except billing management, and cannot remove owners or delete workspaces.

  • Manager - Can view and manage surveys and feedback if given access.

  • Collaborator - Can view surveys and feedback if given access, but cannot modify data.

  • Billing - Can only manage billing information.

Custom roles

Elite and Enterprise plans can create custom roles with granular permissions. To manage roles, navigate to Settings > Roles.


Survey access

By default, Managers and Collaborators don't have access to any surveys.

Admins can grant access when:

  • Inviting new users

  • Editing existing users

  • Viewing a survey dashboard

  • Editing a survey

Restricting feedback for Collaborators

Admins can enable an option for Collaborators to only see feedback they're associated with. To do this:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Roles.

  2. Edit the Collaborator role.

  3. Enable the Only feedback associated with the user option.

This is the only setting that can be modified for default roles.

Team member mapping

Team member mapping allows you to restrict Collaborators to only see their own feedback.

To view and manage team member mappings:

  1. Go to Settings > Users.

  2. Each user is automatically mapped to their email address.

  3. Admins can add additional mappings for Collaborators from the edit user menu.

Team member mapping is useful when a user's email in Simplesat differs from their helpdesk system. Admins can add extra mappings for Collaborators, ensuring they can access their feedback despite email discrepancies across platforms.
