Simplesat allows you to import historical feedback using a CSV file.

We highly recommend importing past feedback so you can analyze trends, track customer sentiment over time, and build reports that combine both historical and recent responses for a complete view.

Supported fields

Your CSV file must include at least:

  • A rating column with valid rating values for your survey (e.g., 1–5)

You can also include optional fields:

  • Date

  • Comment

  • Choice(s) (follow-up question responses)

  • Customer Name

  • Customer Email

  • Ticket ID

  • Is Published (if you want to import unpublished data)

Heads up: This importer only supports one main question and one follow-up question. If you need to import additional questions or custom data, use the Simplesat API.

How to import feedback

Open the importer

  1. Go to the Feedback section in Simplesat.

  2. Click Import feedback.

  3. Select your import source:

    • Choose from supported platforms for export instructions and pre-configured field mapping.

    • Or select Custom CSV for a manual import.

Prepare your CSV

Make sure your CSV file:

  • Has a header row.

  • Contains at least one rating column.

  • Matches rating values exactly with what's defined in your Simplesat survey.

You can include additional columns for optional fields listed above. When you're ready, add the CSV file to the importer.

Choose a survey

All imported responses must be linked to a survey. Select the survey you want the imported feedback to be associated with.

Map your fields

  1. Match each Simplesat field with the appropriate CSV column.

  2. If a field doesn’t apply, select Ignore.

  3. Required fields like Rating will show a warning if unmapped.

Review the import

Before confirming, you'll see:

  • A summary of how many rows will be imported.

  • Any rows that will be skipped due to invalid data.

  • The field mapping table for review.

If you need to make changes, go back to the previous step or adjust your CSV and start over.

Configure final actions

Optional settings before importing:

  • Tags - A default import tag is applied automatically. You can add additional tags to help organize your data.

  • Topic analysis - Enable to automatically detect topics and sentiment from comments.

  • Run integrations - Decide whether integrations connected to this survey should process the imported responses.

Import!

When you're ready, click Import to start the process. The import will run in the background, and you'll receive an email summarizing how many responses were successfully imported and if any issues were detected. Once complete, your feedback will be available in Simplesat, tagged, and ready for analysis.
